Choosing Happy
Update: Well, clearly I didn’t keep to this idea, lol. This didn’t pan out the way I intended, mostly because I got the download that I needed to be still. So, I followed instructions. Maybe this will come back into play in the near future. And maybe not, lol.
I am starting a new feature for the collective that includes pulling cards to see what energy the collective needs and then sharing sound healing related to it.
This week, using the Prism Oracle, the card that came out was happiness and the background was Cleanse. In tapping in to see what Spirit wanted us to know and explore around happiness, there were lots of things that came up, for the collective as well as for me personally.
The energy of happiness is such an elusive thing. Many scholars and philosophers state that happiness is a choice and that once you have chosen it for yourself, there isn’t anything or anyone that should be able to shift you from that state. Basically, we control our own happiness. Simple, right? LOL, yeah, that’s what I thought too.
It can be really difficult to imagine that we control our happiness when we can feel like so much of our lives are out of our control. Not to mention, literally everywhere we turn, we are being sold or marketed something that is meant to bring us happiness. From very early on, we are taught that happiness is external so when we see people or situations that look different than what we have going on, we can begin to think that there is something wrong with us. And this is actually farthest from the truth. In a capitalist society, we have been taught that happiness comes from outside of us - to help keep consumerism alive.
As a recovering shopaholic, I have unconsciously been victim to this mentality for a long time. It wasn’t until I started realizing that the new pretty, shiny thing only “made me happy” for a short while until I was ready to find the next new pretty, shiny thing. I was chasing a feeling and no one told me that it wasn’t something that could be bought. It has taken a lot of shadow work and learning to identify what it is that makes me feel like I “need” something new. This is what has helped me to get on the road to recovery. Much like any addict, there is a feeling attached to the next hit, drink, bite, or, new thing. Though I am now more conscious about it, it doesn’t mean that I have suddenly found inner happiness. I am proud to say that I am working on identifying any and everything that keeps me from it though.
Now that we have discussed the idea of happiness, let’s explore what could be blocking us from choosing to be happy. With the background card (see pic above) being Cleanse., we are being asked to cleanse away anything that isn’t assisting us to achieve this state. From the color of the card being light blue, I connect this to our throat chakra and all the ways we are using (or not using) our voice to call in happiness. This includes:
self-sabotage
negative self-talk
negative outlooks
out-dated habits (i.e.patterns, addictions)
old programming
not speaking our truths
not asking for what we need
putting others’ needs before our own
being creatively blocked
Additionally, with the upcoming Lunar eclipse in Scorpio, (a water sign), the themes for you can lie in whatever house and planetary bodies are in Scorpio in your natal chart (transits and aspects count too).
For the next week, I am challenging us to explore the following questions:
What is your idea of being happy? What does that look like?
Where do your passions lie?
Are you really happy (like really)?
What is stopping you from choosing to be happy?
What needs to be washed away to make way for true happiness?
The Happiness card is orange connecting in the sacral chakra. This energy center is the place where we birth our creations. Being happy is usually connected to our passions and feeling creatively expressive. As we move forward through the next week, consider bringing in one or more of the following themes to help work our sacral and throat chakras:
Speaking what we want into existence (not what we don’t want);
Artistic expression - explore poetry, singing, painting, drawing, coloring and more;
Sacred sex and sensuality - with or without a partner;
Dance and movement - move stagnant energy by dancing to music, doing yoga or working out;
Yell, scream, shout out anything that is not working for you.
We have to actively reprogram ourselves to understand that we have the choice to be happy. Coming back to this each and every time we are tested in the next week will help us be more conscious of all the ways that we have allowed others/things/external circumstances to throw us off and keep up imbalanced.
Let’s see how we do!
For extra support, you can:
revisit this post to listen to the sound bowls often;
use essential oils - Tangerine (promotes cheerfulness), Lemon (for clarity) and Lemongrass (emotional clearing);
Solfeggio frequencies - 417 hz and 741 hz for the sacral and throat chakras;
Set-up a free consultation with me to see how I can assist you in navigating through anything mentioned here.
